Graphic & Website Design Camp

Ages: 10-15

Skill Level: All skill levels welcome!

Type of Program: Digital Makers

Length of Course: 4 full days. Tuesday to Friday. 9:00 AM (early drop-off 8:30 AM) to 4:00 PM (late pick-up 4:30 PM)

 

About This Course

Learn one of the most important skills of the 21st century - website building and graphic design! Learn how graphic design is used to spread an idea, sell a product or spur an action! Students will create a unique brand for an organization they create. They will design a logo, an event poster, and a persuasive pamphlet. Then your student will practice informative writing by researching a topic of interest, and then showcase the information on a website. Students will then learn about user experience (UX) and how they can create an awesome website by applying specific UX concepts. Teachers will guide students through practicing sound research, proper citation, and clear writing. Their final website will include multiple web pages, images, and intentional design! No prior experience required.

 

In this course, your child will:

  • Create designs to spread an idea, sell a product, or spur an action
  • Improve their creative design skills as they learn about important design elements such as layouts, spacing, fonts and colors
  • Advance their knowledge on the importance of imagery in messaging
  • Learn several effective strategies for persuasive writing
  • Strengthen their critical thinking skills and learn how to spot persuasive writing in advertisements and online posts
  • Learn and use vector graphics software to design a high-quality digital pamphlet
  • Improve their user experience (UX) design skills as they learn about important elements such as layouts, spacing, fonts and colors
  • Strengthen their research skills as they find and write informational content on a topic of their choice
  • Use professional website building platforms Wix or WordPress to design their websites
  • Meet new friends and learn about their diverse interests
  • Have an absolute blast!
