Python Discoverers

This is a week long camp offered at McKernan Community Centre.

Starts at 9 am (8:30 am early drop off)

Ends at 4 pm (4:30 pm late pick up) 

How can students take their coding game and problem-solving skills to the next level? They can learn a “grown-up” language!

This is for kids ages 10-14.

In Python Discoverers, we will guide students through the fundamentals of computers, computing science, logic, and coding. Students will learn the basics of the Python programming language along with Jupyter Notebooks — the same modern tools used by universities and technology companies.

We will integrate many number-sense concepts from the math curriculum, using technology.

Students will learn various computer science concepts, such as:

• Basic data types

• Basic arithmetic operations and control flows

• Variables

• Loops

• Debugging

Skill Level

Students should have experience with block-based coding and are ready to progress with text-based coding with Python.
