Python Explorers

For ages 10-14.

How can students take their coding game and problem-solving skills to the next level? They can learn a “grown-up” language!

Python Explorers is for students who want to continue to build the skills and knowledge they discovered in Python Discoverers. Students re-enforce and grow their usage of Python programming with Jupyter Notebooks — the same modern tools used by universities and technology companies.

We will integrate many number-sense concepts from the math curriculum, as well as make more complex games like hangman.

Students will learn various computer science concepts, such as:

• Data science concepts

• More advanced control flow logic

• Complex conditionals and loops

• Data structures

• Debugging

This is a 10-session program that runs for two weeks. Each class is 1.5 hours long.

Skill Level

Students should have experience with block-based coding and are ready to progress with text-based coding with Python. 

Requirements

Students will need:

• Access to a computer with internet access

• An email address
